Dan, thank you for all your hard work over the last decade, you will be missed! The Jasper County SWCD is currently accepting applications for a District Program Manager. The position will remain opened until filled and applications will be reviewed weekly.


Job Description: Under the guidance of Jasper County SWCD Board of Supervisors and with direction by the Jasper County Commissioners, the District Watershed/Conservation Program Manager will be responsible for providing leadership for the planning and implementation of countywide projects that will increase the adoption of practices and systems that improve soil and water health in both rural and urban landscapes. The Program Manager will be responsible for effective development and communication of technical data as related to soil and water resources in order to identify local needs and solutions. With those in mind, the Program Manager will continuously seek outside funding and oversee current grant funded projects that will address those concerns. Other responsibilities include the oversight and facilitation of District information/outreach efforts and the cultivation of relationships among local farmers and landowner, organizations, media, and public officials. The Program Manager will also work directly with other partnering agencies to achieve the District’s goals.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a natural resources field such as agriculture, agronomy, hydrology, biology, environmental science or resource management. Two years relevant experience. Consideration will be given to an equivalent of education and experience.

  • Strong oral/written communication skills.

  • Understanding of water and soil health principles.

  • Strong facilitation, leadership, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to track multiple projects, meetings, and schedules.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

  • Ability to meet county employee policies and requirements.

Preferred:

  • Experience in grant writing

  • Knowledge and experience with GIS

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local conservation agencies and programs
