Adopt-A-Ramp Program at Laird's Landing

Laird's Landing in Rensselaer, Indiana
Laird's Landing offers unique nature-based activities. With easy access to the Iroquois River, visitors may launch small non-motorized watercraft, walk along the shoreline through a woodland, set-up a picnic, or observe some of the area's rich natural surroundings including diverse bird communities and flowing stream.

Natural Area Stewardship
As the natural area stewards at Laird's Landing Public Access Site in Rensselaer, Indiana, we strive to maintain a site of social and ecological balance. We will make a minimum of 12 site visits between 2025-2026 with the intention of clearing upland forest, shoreline, and nearshore trash and unnatural debris. We also plan to use the natural area to control manage ongoing plant biological invasions. Removing trash and lightly governing the invasive plant species will create a socially and ecologically friendlier natural area for Jasper County visitors.

Site Environmental Monitoring
Via images, videos, and detailed natural notes, we will track seasonal social and ecological changes. Please stay tuned for seasonal report publications beginning in December 2025 with the Fall report. You can find the report repository near the bottom of this page.

Community Involvement and You
We are currently planning seasonal trash and debris removal events aimed at involving the public. Please periodically check this page for information regarding a public event. Please note that if you would like to physically assist our stewardship team during site restoration events, you must fill-out a volunteer form. Moreover, please bring a hard copy of this form before volunteering or e-mail it to joshua-kesling@iaswcd.org.
