UPDATE....

Phase 2 is expected to be started in the fall of 2011!  Phase 2 is new restroom facilities that will be built between our current building and the FFA building.  A challange grant for $16,894 was received from the Monsanto fund.  The SWCD has raised $6,355 in matching funds.  The breakdown is as follows:

$1,000-Gold Standard Pole Barns
$1,000-Jasper County REMC Operation Round-Up

THE JASPER COUNTY SWCD HOLDS GROUND BREAKING FOR EDUCATION CENTER

  

Rensselaer, IN (May 19, 2011) –The Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District today held a ground breaking ceremony for the Education Center.  The SWCD plans to start construction in early June with a completion by the first of July.  The SWCD will be holding events the whole week of the Jasper County Fair (July 16-22).

The Education Center is funded entirely with grants.  No tax dollars are being used.  The project is being broken into 3 phases.  Phase one is for the SWCD Education Center.  The next phase will construct ADA compliant restrooms that will adjoin the Education Center.  The final phase is the construction of a covered porch to be used for outdoor education.  Each phase will be constructed as funds become available.
